AT&T Launches New Guarantee, Promises to Compensate Customers for Outages

AT&T has launched a new customer service initiative called AT&T Guarantee.
The initiative promises to compensate customers for service interruptions and downtime.
If there is a fiber outage lasting 20 minutes or more or wireless downtime lasting 60 minutes or more, customers will receive credit for a full day of service.
Certain outages caused by weather events, natural disasters, or third parties are not eligible for compensation.

Users have reported 15GB+, 50GB, 80GB, and even 140GB of cache files occupying their disk drives.
The com.apple.mediaanalysisd directory holds cache files for the mediaanalysisd daemon, responsible for analyzing the Photos library for object and facial recognition.
To fix this issue, users can delete the cache files within the com.apple.mediaanalysisd folder to recover disk space.

Steam Ate Microsoft's Lunch On PC, It's About To Do The Same On Handhelds

Valve’s Steam Deck, is by far the most successful portable gaming PC ever created and will popularize SteamOS as the most popular way to play PC games on the go.
Steam Deck is powered by SteamOS, a Linux-based, gaming-focused operating system that made it easier than ever to buy, install, and play almost any PC game on the portable device.
Other companies have released competitors, but none of them include SteamOS, so these devices are harder to use and clunkier.
Microsoft had a chance to potentially offer a lightweight, easy-to-use version of Windows that portable PC makers could put onto their machines, but the Xbox parent never did.
Valve is ready to make it easier than ever to install SteamOS on more devices and let users install SteamOS on any portable PC they own.
SteamOS will likely be the default way to play games on a portable PC and could become popular on TV-based console-like devices or desktops.
Microsoft had a chance to compete with Valve in the handheld gaming space, but Xbox never dethrone SteamOS as the most popular way to play PC games on the go.
Time has seemingly run out for Microsoft to dominate a corner of the gaming market, and Valve has won again.

How to back up your messages and save on storage space

iMessage Exporter is a free tool for Mac that can back up your text messages (and iMessages). It creates a local backup with your full conversation history that you can search and read through.
iMessage Exporter saves your messages in a rich file format that looks like a regular iMessage thread and allows you to include all attachments and pictures for maximum backup.
If you back up your messages to a Mac, then you can comfortably delete your old messages from your phone, saving space
You might already back up your messages in iCloud, but Apple charges an arm and a leg for space. You can save space (and money) by making a local backup and clearing out your cloud storage.
To download the iMessage Exporter, go to GitHub’s Releases page. It is more complicated than downloading an app, but the article provides a step-by-step guide to running it on Mac.
After making your local iMessage archive, to free up some iCloud space; Open Messages and go to Messages > Settings and just change the Keep Messages setting to One Year.
If you mess up and want to run iMessage Exporter again with different settings, or you don’t think you need the backup, you can delete the backup file you created.
The tool saves in your Home folder by default, and you can drag the imessage_export folder to the Trash and empty it.
iMessage Exporter can't pull in contact names, using the Mac Terminal is challenging for those who are not fluent in command-line interfaces.
However, this open-source tool indeed offers a quick and easy way to back up your messages without paying Apple for storage.

Microsoft is finally fighting back against the rise of SteamOS by overhauling Windows 11 to be better on handhelds

Microsoft is looking to enhance the Windows 11 gaming user interface to be more console-like and better optimized for handheld gaming devices.
Currently, Windows 11 is not great on handheld gaming devices and Microsoft wants to improve the experience.
Microsoft aims to integrate the user-friendly, console-like features of Xbox into Windows for handhelds by making it easier to use Windows gaming devices more intuitively.
The goal is to allow users to pick up their device and play without fiddling with complicated settings or dealing with desktop-style menus.
Microsoft is not building a brand-new Xbox operating system for PCs, but rather improving Windows 11 itself to feel more like an Xbox when gaming.
This includes making Windows 11 work better with gaming controllers and designing the operating system to make better use of handheld gaming hardware.
Microsoft VP of Next Generation Jason Ronald hinted that improvements will be seen this year, going beyond current compact modes for Xbox apps in Windows 11.
The improvements hope to make handheld Windows gaming as easy and enjoyable as playing on an Xbox while still allowing flexibility of Windows.
This move is also significant as Windows 11 currently faces competition from SteamOS.
Microsoft's aim is to create a simplified experience like that of a games console to take on SteamOS for gaming handhelds.

TSMC Arizona is now producing S9 SiPs for Apple Watch, joining the production of A16 processor for iPhones.
The S9 SiP is believed to be a derivative of the A16 processor and is manufactured at N4 (part of the N5-family of process nodes).
TSMC Arizona currently has three processors in production, including S9 SiP for Apple Watch, A16 for iPhones, and Ryzen 9000 for AMD.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is powered by Apple's S9 SiP, while the Apple Watch Series 10 uses the S10 SiP and the Apple Watch SE uses the S8 SiP.
